EMERGENCY NUMBERS

Thailand has adopted 911 as their Emergency Number for all emergencies, 24 hours a day.

The former 191 emergency hotline will automatically be redirected to the new 911 number.

Many mobile phones are pre-programmed with 112 which will redirect to 911 even if your provider has no signal.

If you're in an accident, and need a translator, the Thai Tourist Police can help

Thailand Telephone Dialing
If you are placing a call into Thailand from another country first dial the country code for Thailand: 66 then the phone number without the leading zero (0). However, when dialing from within Thailand the leading zero (0) is required.
Example
To phone the Austrian embassy in Bangkok from England dial: 66 2 344 6300.
To phone the Austrian embassy in Bangkok from from Phuket, Thailand dial: 02 344 6300.

Tourist Police TIPS for a Safe Holiday

Phuket is a very safe destination, and when Tourists and visitors get in trouble, it is usually because they gave trouble a chance.

  • When you're driving or riding on a motorbike, always wear your helmet.
  • Before renting cars, motorbikes or jet skis, list any damage on the rental agreement and sign the agreement. Take pictures of any damage using your phone with the renter included in the photograph.
  • Carry a copy of your hotel business card in your wallet.
  • Keep photos of your hotel business card, and even the hotel entrance, on your phone.
  • Keep photos of your passport documents on your phone.
  • Keep photos of your credit cards on your phone.
  • Do not drink and drive. Thailand is cracking down on offenders.
  • Keep cash, credit cards & valuables in your reception lock box.
  • Keep your passport, cash and valuables on your person in a zip pocket when sleeping in a bus or plane.
  • Never accept drinks or food of any kind from strangers.
  • Never give the original of your passport as guarantee to a vehicle renter.
  • Place copies of your passport in each of your luggage pieces.
  • Use only ATM machines in malls and at banks.
  • When going on a Tour, chose well known reputable companies.
  • When going out at night, only take the cash and valuables you need.
